FELTED VESSELS with Fran Steinbock, Saturday, May 17, 2008 1-4pm, $55.00 (includes $20.00 materials fee). Create a felted vessel by the process of "wet felting". This is achieved by covering an inflatable ball with wool batts, adding warm soapy water, and agitation (in this case, bouncing!). The technique is easy, the possibilities endless, and the results are beautiful! The first class sold out and you can see their fabulous results. One participant said that she hadnít had this much fun since preschool!! The only prerequisite for this class is that you need to be able to bounce a ball for 2 hour (breaks are permitted!). This class is limited to 10 participants.
FELTED SOAP FOR PARENT AND CHILD with Fran Steinbock, Sunday, June 1, 2008, 1-3pm. $60.00 for Parent/Child and $45.00 for Single (includes material fee for 2 projects). Learn to make a felt covered bar of soap using roving , water and a bit of pressure. Then, use it in the bath or shower as it gently cleans and exfoliates. As the bar of soap gets smaller, the felt also continues to shrink. When the soap is gone, a felt ball remains! This is a great activity to do with a child and will make a unique Fatherís Day gift. (Children should be a minimum of 10 years old)

We are the Comforters: those who give comfort; long narrow knitted neck scarves; warm bedcovers. So many children are in need of comfort.

Last Year Fine Points sponsored We are the Comforters. Our goal was to deliver as many knitted or crocheted blankets as we can for the foster children under the supervision of Bellefaire JCB. We received this from Bellefaire JCB:

To all the generous donators of knitted blankets:

"Thank you so much for your generosity in knitting 6 blankets for the 4th Annual Holiday Wish List for kids (and) the additional 12 blankets that you knitted throughout the year. You have helped make our clients feel very special. Your 'tzedakah' is truly appreciated and we look forward to your participation again next year!"

Debbie Cowan, Associate Executive Director of Bellefaire JCB

We are happy to have helped, and are starting again.

You can help by making a blanket of washable yarn and bringing it to the shop.

  • Blankets for infants thru 4 years of age should be approximately 36" x 36" and should not be of too loose a weave.
  • Blankets for children ages 5--10 should be approximately 36" x 48".
  • Blankets for youth ages 11-18 should be approximately 48" x 60".

No blankets should have fringe. Garter stitch is fine. Patterns are fine.

Please join us in this opportunity to share warmth with others.
