Learn to Knit and/or Crochet with Faith Wyse, Saturday, February 20, 2010 1-4pm, $35.00.
Here's a great opportunity to learn to knit AND crochet in the same class. If you want to learn just one or the other, that's fine, too. Learned once, but don't quite remember how to do it? Here is your chance to refresh your skills. Faith is skilled at both and will have you hooking and/or clicking away in no time. Besides that, Faith is an expert in mixing colors and textures that gives everything she makes a big "WOW" factor. She will show you how to do this with even the simplest of knitting/ crochet stitches. PS. This class fills up quickly, so sign up at your earliest convenience. ***THIS CLASS IS FULL. See class on March 6th.***
NUNO FELTED SCARF with Fran Steinbock, Sunday, February 21, 1-4pm, $50.00 (includes $15.00 materials fee).
Create a one of a kind wool and silk scarf using the Nuno felt technique. Nuno felting is the process of incorporating fine wool fibers (roving) into lightweight fabrics using warm soapy water and agitation (rolling in bubble wrap). As the wool fibers shrink and work their way into the fabric of the scarf, soft ruffles are formed. It's a magical process! Take home a beautiful scarf, ready to wear or give as a gift.

FELTED VESSELS with ROVING withFran Steinbock, Saturday, February 27, 2010 1-4pm, $55.00 (includes $20.00 materials fee)
Create a felted vessel by the process of "wet felting". This is achieved by covering an inflatable ball with roving, adding warm soapy water, and agitation (in this case, bouncing). Fran has done similar classes for Fine Points, but has used wool "batts" in the past. This class will use roving, which makes the technique a little different than using batts, but roving is more available with a wider range of colors. (Fine Points sells roving by the ounce) The only prerequisite for this class is that you need to be able to bounce a ball for 30 minutes (breaks are permitted!). We guarantee you will have fun!!!! This class is limited to 10 participants.

We are the Comforters: those who give comfort; long narrow knitted neck scarves; warm bedcovers. So many children are in need of comfort.
Last Year Fine Points sponsored We are the Comforters. Our goal was to deliver as many knitted or crocheted blankets as we can for the foster children under the supervision of Bellefaire JCB. We received this from Bellefaire JCB:
To all the generous donators of knitted blankets:
"Thank you so much for your generosity in knitting 6 blankets for the 4th Annual Holiday Wish List for kids (and) the additional 12 blankets that you knitted throughout the year. You have helped make our clients feel very special. Your 'tzedakah' is truly appreciated and we look forward to your participation again next year!"
Debbie Cowan, Associate Executive Director of Bellefaire JCB
We are happy to have helped, and are starting again.
You can help by making a blanket of washable yarn and bringing it to the shop.
- Blankets for infants thru 4 years of age should be approximately 36" x 36" and should not be of too loose a weave.
- Blankets for children ages 5--10 should be approximately 36" x 48".
- Blankets for youth ages 11-18 should be approximately 48" x 60".
No blankets should have fringe. Garter stitch is fine. Patterns are fine.
Please join us in this opportunity to share warmth with others.
